Safety |
The CT-600 arrived via air express all the way from Taiwan. The shipping container was very rugged and the scooter sustained no shipping damage. Upon unpacking the scooter we inspected it and found it to of sound construction. We could find no loose screws or bolts and the steering column and seat went together quickly and where attached in a strong safe manner. The CT 600 has dual band brakes, but they are the large variety and easily stop the scooter instantly during a panic stop drill. The brakes also worked very well stopping the scooter going down a 12% steep decent. The scooter doesn't free-wheel that well which aids in its safety going down hills. The CT-600 rides like a big luxury car. It is very stable and handles bumps and pot-holes as well or better than any scooter I have ever tested. The CT-600 has full 'street equipment'. It has a bright headlight and adequate tail and brake light. The turn signals are also adequate for day or night riding and they make a beeping noise when engaged.

Performance Speed
Full Throttle Range
Hill Climbing |
The CT-600 has a top speed of 14.5 mph with a 225+ lb rider and 16 mph with a light 170 lb rider . The CT-600 is obviously tuned down for reliability as it has the power to carry two passengers at near top speed, and has very good acceleration. I think a smaller scooter need only have a 15 mph top speed to be acceptable, but a large premium priced scooter like the CT-600 should have speed in the 18-20 mph range. The CT-600 has very good range, and just as important the multi-light battery status indicator allows one to judge how much juice is left. The three light systems or most of the other scooters (green, yellow, red) are often inadequate. The range on a relatively flat route was 11.5 miles for the 225 lb rider. I did not test a 180 lb rider, but I am sure they would get 14-15 miles of range. The CT-600 uses 2 x 12v 26ah batteries. Although the CT-600 doesn't exactly have a quick swap battery system, if one leaves out the screws in the battery box lid, one can take the batteries out for charging inside at work, which effectively gives the CT-600 20 miles of round trip range to work or other places where one can charge inside. The CT-600 is an excellent hill climber. It completed a 4.5 mile route that included two 12-13% climbs without a problem. We have not tested its maximum limits (will update later), but we can say that it definitely should be adequate for almost any local terrain, especially with a rider lighter than 235 lbs. |

Suitability |
TheCT-600 is suited for a variety of uses: It is very capable of carrying two riders, which makes it a candidate for soccer Mom/Dad, it would be good around a RV camp, boat mariner, rental business, etc. It has great range and power but it marginal speed might make it a reluctant commuter vehicle. | *Certification: Passed
