The GoHub system and the new Phoenix systems represent the best in the industry currently. The GoHub system will keep you in the 20 mph bicycle range, and the Phoenix will allow you to have the speed and power of a full size electric scooter with the convience and stealth of a bicycle. |
| Power Assist |

Lafree Lite (by GIANT) |
Power Assist (PA) means you must pedal the bike at all times and the electric motor aids your pedaling. This makes pedaling much easier, especially when going up hills. PA is usually the only electric bike excepted in Europe as a 'bike'. Power on Demand (POD) bikes often require moped or motorcycle registration. etc. PA bikes are usually lighter ( have smaller motors and battery pack) yet have excellent range because the motor is 'aways' assisted by pedaling.

Just as there are folding bikes, there are folding electric bikes. These bike fold for easier transport or storage. They usually have smaller wheels (16", 20") then non-folding full size bikes (26"). The performance of the folding bikes are usually a little less than the performance of non-folding 26" bikes, but not in every case.

Since electric bikes are federally legal, and usually locally legal, some electric scooters have been given additional pedal assist so they will be classified as a bike and not a scooter, which may locally banned.

| Mid-range |

Lashout |
This mid-range bike is a 'power-on-demand' bike. You can pedal alone, pedal with the motor, or use the motor only. Using the motor only you get electric scooter performance and range, When you pedal assist you get 50 - 100% more range than an equivalently powered electric scooter.
